LIFE-SYNFLUOR in Brussels: the circular economy that unites

The LIFE23 Welcome Meeting – Circular Economy and Quality of Life, organised by the European Commission and CINEA, The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, was an opportunity to bring together the winners of the LIFE23 call for proposals and to create strategic connections between the entities involved. The event, held in Brussels on October 24, 2024, was attended by Luca Pala, Research & Development Director, and Michele Lavanga, Special Projects Director at FLUORSID.

“It was an important opportunity to introduce LIFE-SYNFLUOR and an opportunity to engage with the other winners of the call, all united by a common goal: to promote the circular economy as the foundation of industrial strategies” – said Luca Pala, project coordinator.

LIFE-SYNFLUOR is based on the importance of cooperation, representing a virtuous example of synergy involving three different industrial supply chains for the valorisation and reuse of industrial by-products. The first step will be the design of a pilot plant, to which a new cutting-edge technology will be applied, capable of transforming hexafluorosilicic acid, a by-product of the fertiliser industry, into high-value raw materials.
